Inostrancevia was a type of synapsid called a gorgonopsian—a group of saber-toothed beasts. It was about the size of a tiger but vaguely reptilian in appearance, with leathery skin like a rhinoceros.
Now the important question: could we run away from it or fight it? 250 million years of evolution must be good for something, right?

its a stem mammal, gorgonopsid. basically a mammal but not quite mammal, but still has reptilian features.

They include these goofy looking guys, Cotylorhynchus, AKA the anti-Charlie Kirk.
Sounds like it includes mammals in the cladistic sense though. So pre-mammals?

For some reason I picture it as having really droopy jowls covering those canines. Like a mastiff on steroids.
