I've had some time with both wolves and huskies and gotta say, I don't think that's an entirely full grown husky, but pretty dang close and that's a HUGE wolf compared to the ones I've seen Irl. I'm probably in lil wolf territory but that is large
Whoah how fucking big are wolves!
I’ve read that in the US lots of people nowdays have them as pets and that a lot of those end up getting put down because people just want a cool big dog and end up with a wild animal.
There's a guy with a few wolf dogs who frequents a dog park near me. They're great and beautiful animals, but according to him you have to dilute the wolf in them for multiple generations before they become safe to keep as pets. I guess training a wolf is technically possible but wolves and half-wolves just aren't domesticated animals and they can and will react unpredictably no matter how "well behaved" they seem on the surface - and that's with a professional working with them, now imagine the average dog owner!
Very. They're basically the size of (some) big cats, they're not just what we'd think of as large dogs. Like imagine the largest dog breeds and how huge those are: wolves are (or at least can be) bigger than that.
Like the wolf in that picture would probably come up past your waist at the shoulder.
For a while I lived with an older half wolf half husky who was going a bit blind and could be cranky, a middle aged full husky who was captain mischief and a little puppo husky who was and continued to be the most gentle dog ever. I caught that dude giving kisses to a squirrel. It was a cute combo
My doggies are friends with a young husky up the street. It's the highlight of his day when neighborhood dogs come by his house. Poor pup doesn't get taken for walks. Anyhow, one afternoon we're headed right towards his house and my dogs are yapping and jumping around and the crazy husky jumps through the front window. Most amazing thing I've seen a dog do.
