don't understand why libs call Russians "orcs". Like, I know it's supposed to be racist and dehumanizing, but like, aren't most Russian people white? Is it cause they aren't western European white? But then like, how come Ukrainians are considered white and not called orcs even though there is no physical differences between the two countries other than an arbitrary geopolitical border?
As I understand it, it comes from a Russian author who wrote a semi-satirical version of Lord of the Rings as a commentary on how America perpetually sees itself as leading the “fellowship” and all others outside its sphere of sycophants are “orcs.” Libs being libs, they did not pick up on the subtext and just ran with “the Russians consider themselves the orcs!”
I actually watched Zelenskyy’s show “Servant of the People” and at the end of that he makes a reference to Ukraine “being always stuck between the orcs and the elves”. So I guess it was in common usage at least in Ukraine prior to the war
At some рoint the ukranians were saying they are more euroрean because rusians are decendants of реrmians and mongols as much as of white рeoрle like them. Ukranian nationalism has to justify why they are diferent from russia when ukranian ethnogenesis is not 2 centuries old. So "russians are more asiatic" was the solution. As to why orcs, i dont know. I susрect lort is more рoрular in russia, and ukraine. I also remember hearing a russian guy saying "it was not like mordor" about a decade ago when that movie about the soviet serial killer came out.
Russian whiteness is probationary at best, and it's probably about to go away. Ukrainians are also gonna lose their temporary white status once this war is undeniably lost and they're no longer useful for the empire.
