Matter replicators you would hope would bring about post scarcity and the kind of society you see in Star Trek, I have my doubts one would ever be developed without greed as a motivation though

Short of changing human nature I don't think even with all tthat tech we'd end up being a fair society, people would hoard energy, replicator tech, political power etc (unless it's so simple people could build them themselves I suppose)

How do you see something like that and your first thought is to respond with hostility

I would make the argument that even under perfectly executed communism space travel is unlikely to end up being the focus

Lshw, lsusb, etc and grep do that

I generally don't miss anything graphical, once I learn how to do something from the cli I rarely feel the need to do it graphically anymore as it's usually a lot slower

Surely that's not a memory leak, that's just the program using a lot of memory intentionally

Way I see it the only reasons to use docker on nixos is if:

• you need many instances of the same service running on the same hw for some reason
• you're trying to run a service that's only packaged as a docker image

That said using nixos inside a docker container is an appealing proposition in that you get all the usual advantages of nix but can run it anywhere you can run docker images

I wouldn't say I'm a nihilist, I still care about sentient life and am also a vegetarian so can't really say I don't care about animals

Just in the grand scheme of things if the earth blew up tomorrow it's no biggie for the universe

Generally put those kind of issues out of my mind by just reminding myself it's out of my control anyway
