  • "my moral code is also not nearly as strong as yours,

Ask if he would shoot a child if someone asked him to, or cover up a friend being SA'd to save his own skin. What does he think the military is? Free bed and breakfast in an exotic tourist spot?

Men think that they will get some masculinity reset by joining the military when working a service job at McDonalds is far more brave and respectable.

  • it's meant to be the windows-like!

Its where GNOME heretics go to be buried in 10,000 checkboxes and layers of customization options and small clickable areas. /joke

but is there any reason to change it to btrfs like the main drive?

No reason, any kernel filesystem should support saturating a disk drive. You can use BTRFS if you specifically want compression, subvolumes and features like btrfs send/receive but real world performance for games will not observably change.

  • I wish that kid all the luck in the world when they have to become estranged from their Zionist parents because they said humans should have rights.

  • Me, GNOME's biggest fan, silently amused.

Anyway you can change it by right clicking on the bottom panel and switching it off.

The floating panel in KDE is adaptive, so it will attach itself to the bottom when a window is maximized or hovers over it. This change was made almost 2 years ago when Plasma 6 was first released.

  • I bought a refurbished max spec macbook air m1 for $750 after taxes and shipping (the retail price for it was $1650, like fuck me I guess). Its a really nice machine, everything opens instantly thanks to the unified memory and M1 cpu and you can run GNU/Linux on it on bare metal.

It has no fan for cooling, so it can throttle on high load, but that also means its completely silent. Its also the only apple silicon series to not support the shitty camera notch so that's a bonus (wow everything is iPhone!)

Its mind boggling that we've gotten to a point where apple machines are just as repairable as big box OEMs and the framework is still priced out of midtier budgets.

  • Yeah, it's really unfortunate, just like the dedicated Linkedin shortcut.

There is no computer, only LinkedIn.

    Buying laptops under capitalism 😠

  • I agree with this completely. I just used the word cheating as if installing arch was a game and you can "beat" it by entering a cheat code at the start.

My first time using arch was not having archinstall and there was this whole dynamic of arch derivatives whose main reason for existing was not having to manually install. Now that's past (very much for the better)

Going through the manual installation is really important because it does teach you about using the arch wiki and making sure you're comfortable with the command line. But its more a educational exercise than anything (maybe an orientation because it doesn't get any easier from there).

  • Waow you actually went through the installation guide and didn't cheat through the game with archinstall such a beautiful fetch.

  • ass platform. It always was, but now they're censoring non-displays of antisemitism like it was "kill" to "unalive"

  • We avoided specifying the country or war to avoid involving GrapheneOS in a debate on forced conscription in an existential defensive war.

Definitely Ukraine, this is the language used when discussing Russian SMO from the Ukranian govt. side. The war of attrition will continue to have disastrous, existential effects on Ukrainian society unless the Ukraine comes to the negotiating table. At this point, being under full Russian occupation would be a better fate than the current situation (US neocolonial extraction of ukraine's natural resourcs, nazification embedded within the govt, many citizens fleeing abroad and may never return at this point after years).

I use GrapheneOS on my resale Pixel 7a as it's the closest I can get to my own computing while also not being cut off from society demanding I download the latest app spyware to participate.

  • I used to be able to do that as a kid because I was afraid of the dark but now as an adult if there's a little bit of light I can't sleep at all.

  • Looking for project changelogs: they are autogenerated: I click the link, it asks me to sign into Microsoft Azure.

    I love accessible design!

  • I mean, we can see with Bolivia's uprising against the coup in 2019 that popular support and a coalition of orgs can reverse counter revolutions (but then again, we see the infighting between the evoista and morales factions, with morales commanding more popular support). Venezuela isnt at this point, but I can see things like this happening more often now that the imperialist intervention in Venezuela's elections have passed.

But also I don't think this is decentralization as much as it is allowing democratic processes to take place when they were suppressed before. But I don't think these should be allowed to exist without party cadres participating/keeping watch.

  • The treats aren't even that good, I remember reading about detention center guards who have to work 80+ hour weeks for no benefits.

It's just a terrible country where it's either that or you fall into a spiral of despair. Become a nazi to save yourself type country.

    Death to Seppoland.

  • It hurts reading nerdy trans tech blogs and then getting gut punched with anticommunist brainworms. They'll whine about how "win-it-all capitalism" is bad and then in their next article use the Stalin-Yezhov photo as the "most famous example" of clean-up photo editing.

This is what I get for reading white people's writing

  • "Why are you wearing the gerudo outfit outside of the quest"

"I'm just doing it as a joke obviously"

    (

    )

  • The problem with this analysis is that this is what's currently happening now but without the magical AI hype. Wikipedia has probably done more to whitewash oppression and misinform people than any "AI" product. US owned social media has already done this for decades now. US society has always been this fucked up.
