Party n play
Ahhh, dude. Wrong place
Wanna come over for ancient guy autumn? It features similar sweaters, coffee or tea with perhaps a splash of something entertaining and watching the squirrels bury things as the leaves rustle
You already covered a big one.
But, nose picking.
I've never met anyone that didn't, eventually, have a boog that wouldn't blow out. They might not go two knuckles deep or anything, but a dainty pinkie poke happens at some point when there's something stuck.
Now, there's folks that only do it when there's no other option they haven't tried, but our noses have evolved in a way that sometimes we just gotta pull out a blockage or irritant. Our fingers fit well, and have the right texture and surfaces to get the job done.
Ever watched a lot of monkey and ape footage? We aren't the only monkey looking critters that do it. It's common as heck
Fair enough :)
At least I managed to present myself in the way intended successfully, skeptical but polite/interested.
I did eventually feel weird voting at all without saying something, so I very rarely do any more. It's still a very interesting subject, I just don't have anything useful to say that I haven't already said in one way or another. Pretty much the same as on vegan, vegetarian, or keto communities tbh. I see them all as valid choices for individuals. So as long as there's nothing that's outright false, the most I can do is chime in with existing best practices, and it isn't like people looking for a specialized diet haven't seen that information.
Look, apparently the deletion of my comment didn't federate quick with enough. I saw your other comments and realized I have no interest in engaging with you, and the comment you just made is why.
So, pretend I'm saying whatever it takes to end the conversation here, because I tried to undo starting it.
I dunno, it could be worse. I think it's more the material than the style that's clashing with the skirt and hose. That jacket matches the shoes decently, and some folks match those as part of an overall style.
Not my kind of thing, I prefer to match jackets with pants, and prefer jackets match skirts or pants when I'm looking at fashion stuff on others. But, hey, not my outfit anyway :), Suzy can do what they've always done and challenge fashion and gender norms.
It's kinda their thing the wear stuff that pushes the boundaries of both, and that goal is successful here, if that was the intent.
I accidentally did.
Back in jr high, I was sick as hell and helped myself to Benadryl.
Thought I was taking them as directed, over a period of days. Nope. Was taking them every hour or two for part of the morning and into the afternoon. Luckily, not a lethal dose or anything.
But I was seeing some shit!
The walls were breathing, the floor had waves, and he-man came out of my TV on battlecat to talk to me. My GI Joes had a fight with COBRA, and I vaguely remember talking to Spider-Man as I was drifting off at one point.
Tripping
Balls
I know someone that did. Got away with it completely too.
Well, as far as school goes anyway. Their parents found out after they were cocky enough to brag about it online. Kids are often bad at thinking about possible consequences lol.
Yeah, fuck that asshole.
The job of those cops was to preserve the peace of the citizens of that town, not hassle citizens for resisting an illegal act.
Fucking gICEtapo at it again
And people give me shit for saying that cops are the primary target when starting a revolution.
You know, it's really shitty to ask questions here, get the answer, then delete it.
If you want a private, personal answer, hire somebody. Deleting things after using the community like that is not cool at all
I think you vastly underestimate exactly how much impact humans had on the enrollment environment all the way back to the stone age.
Any animal causes changes to an ecosystem. The bigger the numbers, the bigger the changes. In general, it never reaches crisis because something else comes along and shifts things into balance.
But the current crisis wasn't, and isn't, solely caused by the industrial revolution. We caused issues with megafauna waaaaaaay back. We shifted waterways and changed ecosystems during the earliest agricultural development. Everything today is stacked up on top of that, not some kind of distinct thing.
Our distant ancestors weren't some kind of noble and mystical race, perfectly balanced with all around them.
Capitalism wasn't even around as a distinct system back when we first started dumping pollutants and waste into the world. Money wasn't always in place.
The industrial revolution changed the scale, but it would have happened without capitalism because us monkeys have always refined our tools and technology over generations. Stone, bronze, iron, steam, petroleum, silicon, it's a progression that was damn near inevitable.
I just don't buy the idea that human ingenuity and technological progress would have just stopped when factories were imagined and built. Best case, maybe it would have been slower, more careful under something like an anarchist structure (or lack thereof). But there's nothing saying it wouldn't have been worse either. It's a big game of what if, and there's no current way to test technological progression theories. We can't just set up an experiment somehow on mars and let it play out while preventing capitalism to see what happens.
Shit, there were non capitalist systems in place during the industrial revolution, and they didn't exactly reject it all.
I'm gonna jump in here, since there's some info that might be handy.
See, me and jet have had some disagreements regarding the carnivore diet. I even gave them a bit of hell when the carnivore community was new, objecting strongly to certain posts and their content combined with no sourcing or user friendly way to access sources from lemmy.
I'm pretty sure at one point, I got annoying. I know I was rather, ummmm, direct in my phrasing.
But the real story is that I down voted posts, and comments under posts, when they were misleading or contradicted established best practices to a degree I felt warranted a down vote to reduce visibility/support. I did that part with only minimum contributions otherwise, because I didn't really want to piss on anyone's picnic with the frequency I was seeing that kind of thing. Like, I objected to some of the data and conclusions, but the people didn't really need someone critiquing their dietary choices, you dig? All the folks commenting were just minding their own business and not trying to evangelise, so trying to interfere in their choices would be a dick move.
And I never got banned. Ngl, if I had been running the community and seen the pattern of voting with as little contribution as I was engaging in, I might have banned me.
But, neither actively as a mod, nor via bot, did that happen.
I know that's just one anecdote, and anecdotes have little value. But it's why I would have totally called this a YDI if OP hadn't been batshit and ended up banned here as well.
As far as I'm concerned, jet is a fair and even handed moderator. Might want to tweak the bot a little eventually, but for a niche C/, it seems to do the job it's intended to do.
Taking pictures!
Got a new camera that I've been saving for for a while, and the longer lens got here. So, assuming the weather is not so rainy risking a camera in it is untenable, ima be getting used to it, doing some stuff that I've been planning out since I placed the order.
I already took a few, just to verify everything works, but there's some things I'll need to really set up for; tripod, filters, etc.
I'm totally amateur, and don't really want to be serious about photography on any significant level. I just want to make decent pictures for myself. So far, my test images have been okay; which means the camera itself is better than my needs, which is right where I like to be lol.
Not sure how much compression there is via lemmy, but the original is good enough on my screens that I'm happy as hell with the camera and its ability to cover my rustiness using anything other than a point and shoot.
I hate people. Full on misanthropy usually.
But it's always been people that make the best things about social media.
Like, back on reddit, the communities I was most active in had an actual sense of community. There were people that I even talked to away from reddit, if they were willing to put up with my grumpiness about only using very specific platforms (like matrix) to keep as much anonymity and distance as possible.
Back during the brief era I used Facebook, there were people that took part in various groups that I still keep in contact with.
Now, on lemmy, I've met a great person that is quickly becoming the kind of friend that makes me really think hard about my policy of maximizing anonymity. Just a truly awesome person that I hold in high esteem. I've also got lemmy friends, where we'll never likely talk elsewhere (and might not get along if we did), but I look forward to running across here. That's where the fediverse shines, it's still very community driven and people first.
And that's the best thing about social media, when you ignore the bullshit, and remove corporate influence from it. Yeah, most people in the world are assholes, but once you get enough people in the same place, you're eventually going to run across the good ones. I've lost count of how often I've cried at the kindness and goodness of people, how much genuine, literal laughing out loud I've done, the people that didn't know how much I needed a kind word, and gave it just because that's how they roll.
The threaded part of the fediverse is better for that than reddit was, and than branches like Mastodon, but even on Mastodon, the mutual support people give is such a refreshing thing to see.
That's the shit right there. That's the tits, the bomb, and the real deal.
Even when I run across the assholes, and have to put on my own asshole hat to deal with it, I know, I know that there's also good people out here.
Heh, my naked neighbor story that I just left was about exhibitionist neighbors.
There ended up being non verbal consent, via escalated instances of exhibition on their part with like polite responses (and no objection) on my part. It was never, "want to see us naked and watch us have sex", but it was kinda that in a different way lol.
Damn, you are a dick. And not the friendly, throbbing kind that's fun to play with. More the kind that's dripping gonorrhea on everything.
Not in a long while. And, most of it was not very interesting, just naked people living. Like a neighbor we had waaaaay out in the country that would mow topless since we (me and my best friend) were the only ones that would be able to see, and she just did not care. She knew my friend was gay, and didn't believe I wasn't lol. Boring stuff like that.
Here, our neighbors are as protected by our fence and trees as we are. You can't really see in or out without doing some serious planning.
But, before the fence, there was a nice couple that lived next door that, I think, wanted to be seen.
The way their bedroom was set up, there was a space between the bed and their window, enough to walk in, get dressed and undressed in, etc. And it was tall enough that anyone standing in front of it was visible from the knees up. The guy was taller than me, and his head was still visible.
Thing is, it was only visible from part of our yard, and two of our windows. One of those windows is higher, maybe ten feet up at the bottom, but you can see each other well if someone is in their window and ours. No mistaking it. That window never had blinds or curtains because it's a half bath that only gets used when the main one is in use. Bad lighting, little use, so just leave the window clear, right?
Anyway, more than once, I'd be out mowing, or whatever, and one of them would wave from their bedroom window. And I know they knew the bathroom window in our house had clear visibility because she had asked what kind of plant was in the window.
Well, she would almost always change clothes in front of her window. Since she had to bring them to that side of the bed, it was a choice, not convenience. It took more effort. And they'd have sex on that side of the bed more other than not. Sometimes with one or both of them facing the window. A couple of times, I'm pretty sure she was looking up at our bathroom window, and when she saw movement, she would get extra animated.
Anyway, they lived there for years. After a while, it was just something that happened, you know? Like seeing squirrels burying acorns, you don't really notice it after a while.
However, towards the end of their residence, they seemed to get a little more into the exhibitionism. One day, I was out working on my car, and she waved at me through the window. I waved back, and kept working. Next time I look that direction, she's blowing him while he's leaned back on the bed, facing the window. He smiles and grabs her head and they get more energetic.
Believe it or not, I'm not much of a voyeur. I enjoy seeing naked people, and I even enjoy watching people have sex to an extent. But, it doesn't turn me on necessarily. It's usually just interesting rather than arousing.
But, he's enjoying her work, and it was interesting, so I smiled a bit and went back to what I was doing (spark plugs, wires, and general maintenance). But I'd glance over here and there, figuring that if they enjoy knowing they're visible, it would be un-neighborly to completely ignore them. One of those things where it didn't offend me, it wasn't visible randomly, and they were good neighbors, so it didn't bother me that they didn't make sure I was okay with being an audience. Normally, you don't involve others in your kink without consent, but exhibitionism is difficult to do that with; and as I said, we all knew that there was visibility, so did they really need to ask ahead of time?
So, over the next hour or so, they made a show of it. As shows go, I'm kinda sad I'm not voyeur. They put the effort in, and towards the middle of it, dropped any pretense that it wasn't intentional. She got pretty loud, and was showing off when I'd look that way, smile and rub herself. Tbh, it partially broke through. It started to be arousing and distracting. I still had work to do, so I couldn't/didn't want to just kick back and watch, but I did glance over more often.
At one point, there was bumping on the window, and I look over to see her taking a mouthful of semen, her hand tapping and moving on the glass. She looked over and swallowed, with a smile. I thought that would be the end, but the guy kept going, and so did she. She bent over, facing towards the head of their bed, and he was going in from behind.
Towards the end, she was laid back, and he was taking her with his ass towards the window. I looked away for a while, because that wasn't as interesting lol. I don't object to male nudity, and I've had sex in the same room as other guys, but it isn't something I'll just watch if there isn't a good reason.
I look back, and it's just her laid there, open and playing with herself as semen was dripping out of her. She was watching me and smiled again when I looked that way. She waved at me with the hand she'd been using, so I waved back. I guess that was all the applause she wanted, because she just flopped back and laid there for a bit. Next time I looked over, she was gone.
After that day, they were extra friendly, and would sometimes ask if I was going to be working outside any time soon. When the answer was yes, they'd ask when, and I'd tell them. A couple of times, they'd ask if I could do it earlier or later. One of those times, I asked if they wanted a specific time because the noise would bother them. They did request a time, but said they were just curious rather than worried about noise, saying they used loud yard work as a chance to do noisy jobs of their own.
In other words, they essentially asked for consent, and I gave it within the range of practicality. But when they'd put on a show, it was still them pretending not to know it was a show rather than a random thing they were seen. I got the impression that they liked the idea of being seen and the "risk" of being caught, and not so much just the idea of being watched. I mean, if that's what they wanted, they probably would have asked. It isn't like we didn't know what was going on. In any case, maybe once a month, or every few weeks, they'd do their thing, and I'd do whatever job I had to take care of with some light entertainment.
That last winter they were there, I got the bright idea to mention to them that it was so nice to be watering my plants in the evening and look at the holly tree out the window. Said tree being a few feet away from their window. So, twice, they took advantage of that and did their thing. The one time, dude was wearing a santa hat lol.
Really nice folks. Way better than the folks that live there now. Well, the new people are nice enough, just not the sort to have a talk with or share recipes and whatnot. Less neighborly, rather than less nice. I'm not exactly a big talker most times, but it was cool knowing that if I was out sitting under the oak, chances were there'd be a little chat, maybe some planning for a neighborhood event or whatever. Now, it's a nod and wave, if the new folks notice anyone around at all different vibe. And, you know, no window sex lol.
Ngl, I was a bit nervous they might try and invite me into things, or otherwise request something I wasn't willing to do. I'm kink friendly, but I'm pretty vanilla in my personal preferences in that regard. Would have been awkward turning it down. Not that I've never tried three ways and such, but I knew it wasn't and isn't my thing by that point. And I've never shared a woman with anyone that wasn't a very close friend, and would never, no matter whether I was sharing them with a man or a woman.
I liked them well enough, and they were both very attractive, but it just isn't my thing. If we'd been friends rather than just friendly neighbors, I probably still would have said no, but mostly because I don't like three ways, and wouldn't have wanted to risk messing up good neighbor interaction if it went wrong.
Anyway, that's the only vaguely interesting naked neighbor story I have.
Nothing.
Most fungi that cause humans problems are like that. They aren't just on the surface, so you can't one hit them.
Now, stuff like topicals do reduce visible signs of most of them, to some degree. But it still takes time to kill it off. Unfortunately, when it's in the nails like that, the degree of change that's visible is negligible at best, and there's no way a topical will kill it all.
Once it's down into the nail, topicals are not very effective, even if used for weeks. If you catch it early enough, maybe. But most people don't because there's not much time in between the beginning and it having dug in beyond where a topical can do much.
Generally, if you want fast clearing, you need an oral antifungal combined with topical. Otherwise, you'll need to work at it for a while, and every day. Light cases, you can maybe kill off in a week or so like that. Deeper ones, it can take months. The real problem is that it will visually improve within a week or so, but come back if you don't continue treatment.
I pulled up the Web md page covering the usual options, and do recommend sticking to their recommendations. Some of the stuff you see online will cause more problems than they fix.
Even on their list, they include stuff that's meh, imo. Yeah, people do use things like baking soda, menthol, and the sunflower oil, but all of those are dubious in terms of actually clearing the invasion, they usually just slow it down, then it comes back full force a week or two later.
My money? If you can't afford a doctor and the prescription oral options, go with one of the otc medications. It isn't that tea tree oil can't work, it definitely does. It's that you can't be certain of the concentration and quality of what you're getting. While the usual medications aren't perfectly uniform, they're still more uniform than herbal and botanical extracts. Also, unlike the plant based stuff, they're less likely to cause skin irritation of their own, which can be a big issue with plant medicines.
Hell, tea tree oil can give burns if too concentrated and left sitting too long. Some people get the most concentrated they can find and just use it straight, thinking it's better. But it isn't. It's just stronger, and that's not the same thing as more effective. Like, damn near anything is dose dependant. Even water, if you take too much, can actually kill you. At least with spme lotrimin, the dosage is controlled enough that it isn't going to cause any troubles that it wouldn't cause at any dose. As in allergies or sensitivity.
Saying comes to or comes to mean different things, and they're pronounced slightly different.
I actually have one. Banned for complaining about the pop-up on a linked site
