Careless Whisper by George Michael
I'm a RUSH fan that is neurodivergent...
You can probably guess.
For a solid couple of months it was Escape from the Prison Planet - Clutch
But for the last couple of days it's been Le Poisson Steve
This week it's Dracula From Huston.
The entire OK Computer album by Radiohead
Currently it's Wolf Like Me by TV On the Radio.
Tune
We're howling forever!
invisible touch by genesis
it's so happy and energetic and the lyrics are soul-destroyingly sad lol. also the bass player was hot in the music video
Up From the Bottom by Linkin Park has been on repeat.
It’s quite often a Sword tune in my case
This week, Memories of Green by Vangelis, from the Blade Runner soundtrack.
Oh, that's gorgeous.
Recently it's been Los Ageless by St. Vincent. I can't get the steel guitar out of my head.
The last week or so:
I like that you can date so many things since the pandemic by BDG's hair.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who hyperfixates on songs, right now I have Party 4 U by Charlie xcx on repeat.
The song currently playing on repeat in my head is Send in the Clowns by Insane Clown Posse.
When there's too much hatred in the world
When the public makes you wanna hurl
When you realize all you feel is pain
When you always lose while the rest gain
When you feel alone in a crowded room
When the only thing you crave is doom
When you gotta get high to survive
That's the only time you feel alive
When between your ears is a hurricane
You gotta fantasize she knows your name
When you don't believe and they say "try"
All the cool shit you've done are lies
When causing you pain makes them feel good
They would kill you and walk if they could
When makin' sense makes no sense at all
Is when you hold the grease paint stick and draw that smile
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA--
This whole year so far, it's been The Gathering - Shot to Pieces for me. It's not even a new song I discovered, I first heard it when it was new on a Metal Hammer compilation CD. But it's just been speaking to me this year. The lyrics, the vibe, the sound, everything. It's the song in my soul currently.
Mercurial by Picture Atlantic. Super underrated band from California that I can’t believe didn’t have more success. This was the last song off their final album and it basically managed to sum up all my feelings of decades of struggling with depression and ADHD.
Shaken (sot stirred) by tallah
This one, and I'm not even joking: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CD-6X4JhMpc
The rhythm and that progression towards the end are just so damn captivating to me. I wish so much it was a full song instead of a silly short riff...
🕺🏻do you do cocaine💃
anything by midge ure... fade to grey, vienna, reap the wild wind, all stood still. dude's voice is unbelievable.
More a hyperfixation album, but Blue Planet Corporation's Blue Planet has been seeing regular usage on my end lately.
They come and go. Right now it's this Oingo Boingo song from an early Demo EP:
Odd since I usually just listen to new stuff I dig up on bandcamp these days.
My hyperfixation band is Red Vox. That one stays consistent.
I can listen to Toots & The Maytals 54-46 That's My Number (or Was My Number) over and over again.
Edit: Also David Bowie All the Madmen
Edit2: Also The Felice Brothers Don't Wake the Scarecrow, Iggy and the Stooges Your Pretty Face Is Going to Hell, Lou Reed Sweet Jane (from Rock n Roll Animal), NOFX First Call, holy fuck I could go on all night...
At the moment it's Chappell Roan - After Midnight. The odd thing is that that's the only song I like by her and I like it more than I care to admit.
Thomas Dolby, I Love You Goodbye.
It's always A Real Hero by College feat. Electric Youth. Drive absolutely dunked me into the synthwave pool 14 years ago and I never left.
Desolation Row by Bob Dylan. 10m plus song.
My most listened to song ever. An inhumane number
Currently:
Dead Rose Canvas by Space Weather
Dugga Doo from the latest Doctor Who episode.
I think the episode did a terrible job calling out zionism but the song was an unrelated banger.
I don't even understand a lot of Spanish but Tipz & Trickz tickles my brain in just the right way 😄 The artist is really good in general but this is definitely the song I listen to the most
When I'm hyperfixating i usually can't bear any music as it is distracting me.
Unless it's a rotative repetitive physical task, but I rarely get fixated on them.
Got hooked by the Eurovision concert:
Wow this might be my new hyperfixation
Currently its Mick Gordon's cultist base. Just womething about that nrrrr nrr nrrr is just hypnotising
Dissolved Girl, Massive Attack.
Would that more of that album was such sweet ear candy as that entire track.
E1M1 but rendered on a SoundBlaster AWE32 in full MIDI glory.
Kick Up the Dust and Stitched Up by Barbarian Hermit, though frankly the whole album has been pretty much on repeat
holiday/boulevard of broken dreams by green day
Wake Up - Arcade Fire
For me it’s “Hide In Plain Sight” by Jim James. Amazing minimalist intro rolls into a dark, fuzzed out and bluesy build up. I’m obsessed with it.
My last one was "So What If I'm A Freak" by the Snow Strippers https://tidal.com/browse/track/350630552?u
The Antoine Dufour cover of Dracula and Friends.
