Georgia, southern US. Our tomatoes and squash are doing really well.
sad 50 year old noises
... jk, being 50 has been awesome.
Perineum Fairy: Why yes, Timmy. Yes there are.
My wife currently won't let me buy any more trees 😂 (she's right, we have too many). I also keep my citrus in containers. I've got the meyer lemon, a makrut lime, and a calamondin orange. The orange tree hasn't fruited yet, but I'm hopeful!
Would love a cherry tree if we had room for one. I've started grafting different stone fruit varieties onto my plum, though, so maybe I could do that.
I always wanted a cherry tree! I bet that's really cool for the kiddos. What citrus do you have? My meyer lemon has a few fruits on it.
Very cool. I really like the part about the liches being each others' phylacteries.
Two different groups coming together in the same campaign sounds so cool! Are they aware of each other?
Gardening - growing chiles, squash, cucumber, tomatoes, eggplant, blackberries, blueberries (not many this year), persimmons, figs, nectarines, Korean pears, and plums.
Related to gardening, I recently purchased some stuff to put together a new raised bed, and I think I want to get into woodworking.
D&D - I've been running a D&D game for the last 5 years or so that just concluded a major arc.
Lifting weights - I recently purchased a Titan power rack, so that's been great for squats, overhead press, and pullups. I'm trying to get back into Olympic style weightlifting, but it's been slow going.
Travel - we just got back from Santa Fe, NM. It's beautiful there, and the food is fantastic.
Lol. Yes it does.
Thank you, and thanks to everyone else for the great suggestions! I have ideas for several projects, but def want to start with basic stuff and work my way up from there (and just use minimal tools for now until I decide that this is what I'm into).
Probably a hot take, but I think Batfleck was the closest we've gotten to a comicbook accurate Batman. Batfleck's size and build were correct (physically imposing, could have been a bit taller), he was intelligent, mostly broody, and could fight. There are some things that could have been better (being a martial artist instead of being a brawler), but of all the movie incarnations so far I'd say he's the closest.
Yep! Just posted in the woodworking community asking about how to get started.
I'd really love to start making something, even if it's basic. Any tips on where to start? Tools, wood, etc?
That's super nice! Def making me want to take the plunge.
He was a great Superman. Perfect casting. Wrong director and story.
A nice pair of running shoes, to get me motivated to stay jogging again. I need to do cardio.
In Dubai and India I saw male friends holding hands together while walking down the street, and I thought it was really nice.
I hug my male friends often.
Being about to keep your mouth shut. My god. I hear so much office gossip. It's always best to keep it to yourself.
I thought this would be a fun but useful post.
If you had one piece of advice for gardening, what would it be? Like that one thing your discovered or learned that to your results to the next level.
Mine: Mulch your fruit trees well. This will help retain moisture and also keep grass and weeds from popping up which could compete with the tree for nutrients.
I was curious to see what everyone likes to drink or snack on while playing D&D. I grew up on Mountain Dew and Doritos during sessions, usually with pizza if we playing through dinner (which we almost always did).
I think that teaching classes would be interesting. I have a lot of industry experience, but I never actually got a degree in the field I work in, and I don't have any sort of degree that deals with teaching. Is it possible to get a job as a teacher without those?
Edit: I'm in the US specifically looking at teaching college courses, but K-12 could be interesting, too.
Got some spruce tips, but they basically have no flavor. Am I picking at the wrong time? Or maybe it's just a bland tree?
Sort of similar to the Great Filter theory, but applied to time travel technology.
I'm re-watching The Magicians with my wife, since she's never seen it. It's been long enough since I watched it last that I don't remember a lot of things that happened, so there's a lot of "I forgot got that!" moments for me, which is fun.
Vintage recipes are having quite the moment on social media, and this two-ingredient ice cream bread is no exception. It truly puts the "quick" in quick bread.
