‘Grenade among birthday gifts’ kills adviser to Ukraine’s military chief
“At first, the son took the munition in his hands and began to turn the ring. Then the serviceman took the grenade away from the child and pulled the ring, causing a tragic explosion,” Klymenko said.
Military culture and fetishism, not even once.
Am I being unreasonable if I think these outlets should make it crystal clear in the title whether it was an assassination or not?
55 0 ReplyRight now, I'm picturing a Joker situation where the kid get the grenade from a comically huge yellow and purple giftbox
22 0 ReplyYes. It should be completely unambiguous, something like "Russia suspected in tragic birthday death of Ukrainian official."
That way, no one gets confused and their audience won't get the wrong idea and start thinking for themselves or reading beyond the headline.

Best idea for a birthday present
29 0 ReplyI'm struggling to understand what possessed him to pull the pin. Was he that certain it was a fake?
18 0 ReplyThis is a really odd story. Does someone that high in the military not know how the safety features of a grenade work? Aside from "don't let a kid handle a grenade" this seems avoidable on multiple levels
18 0 ReplyPretty sure Ukrainians and Russians aren't all that different.
1 0 ReplyI don't see how that's relevant, though I do agree with the general statement
