I was taking the metro home when I overheard a group of 17 year old youngster talking about how they will be able to vote next year. One of them said that they didn't know what to vote on, and this girl yelled YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR THE WORKERS PARTY (our marxist party).
How is everyone doing? I feel myself slowly slipping into poverty and financial anxiety with every week, and am staying on the Grindtm more often and as such I'm not around here so often sadly.
Not bad but I definitely am in the same boat as you. Just started my 65 hour work week this morning and I’m not hyped about it. This place is my solace during the weekly grind
Hang in there, friend. It's at least a way to keep informed with the help of our level headed comrades here about what's going on in the world without the imperialist propaganda filter.
Winter is coming and I'm in a situation where I have to decide between getting a coat or having at least 2 meals a day. I don't think anyone can understand how cruel capitalism is until they experience actual precarity, being one emergency away from complete disaster.
I hesitate to say it since we were probably all thinking it already anyway (and I wouldn’t be the first), but I like how the 1990 atrocity story about Saddam Hussein allegedly massacring incubator babies was a successful pretext for invading Iraq, and yet even though there is undeniable evidence of the Netanyahu régime committing the same atrocity in Gaza, the neoimperialists don’t want to do a damned thing about it!
Today I will be attending a birthday at my Dutch family in law, of which many are Christian fundamentalists. After an election in which the far right extremism won.
I uh... I want to apologize to the Christian fundamentalist and thank them for their support against neoliberalism. They were probably even more mad at leaving housing and healthcare to the free market than I was somehow.
Anyone know of any good alternatives to Sodastream that do not support genocide ? I want to get one for my dad for the holidays to replace his sodastream, as he loves using it but was not thrilled when I told him about the company.
Also need one for myself honestly. They keep jacking up price of carbonated water
I also know someone who refills soda stream canisters with carefully weighed dry ice. I don't recommend that, there's some risk of exploding if you overfill.
We both just drink plain unflavored carbonated water, it just works out to be more cost effective to use a sodastream even with their overpriced canisters than to buy in cans or even 2L bottles.
Getting the gas for carbonation shouldn’t be a problem for me at least, places here will fill pretty much any canister for you for less than the sodastream replacement costs.
Just wondering about a machine itself that is not pro apartheid. I’ll have to do some looking online when I get a chance
There are these things that alcohol brewers and coffee people use to add nitrogen to their coffee.
Nitrogenated drinks (e.g. nitro cold brew) give a nicer head and go down much smoother. It's usually a manual doo-hickey, and it use standard NO2 cartridges. One example is NitroPress, I don't know anything about the company, I think the general technique is neat and I'm sure there's a half-decent company somewhere. On amzn there were some around USD 100.
That does sound cool and would be neat for coffee but not sure would work for what im looking for unfortunately. I also kind of want that now too though so thank you lol
Y'know, it'd be based if the devs figured out a way to work in RES-style user tagging, just so I can set a flag for unrepentant colonizers to know not to even humor their posts with responses.
Comrades, what do you think of barefoot shoes? I was convinced for it a while ago by this video. Obviously not the biggest issue, but if you’ve got the money to spare it seems worth it, and in socialist society they’d hopefully be more accessible.
My family in law wears them a lot and they say they are great. They claim to really feel a difference with regards to foot pain and stuff. Anecdotal, but still.
I used to wear barefoot shoes a bit, and ended up with some lingering foot pain because of it. Not the end of the world (and I probably just suck at walking), but that was my experience.
It might be either because you’re used to “normal” shoes and your feet weren’t ready for the change, concrete sucks, or there might have been some stretch that could’ve helped. Or you’re not great at walking.
not ideologically, but I'd say cooperating with the US against the USSR was an astoundingly terrible idea (no matter how revisionist the Khrushchev leadership was) and did help NATO
Any of the comrades on here can send me the BDS list? I saw it a while ago, but forgot to bookmark. Am too tired to sift through search engine results, which seem to have gotten way worse over the last year or two.
City politics driving me insane lately, and thats just from reading the news and not participating in it. Can only imagine how bullet to the head inducing it must be to actually participate in it if you aren't a dumb as bricks careerist, petty real estate oligarch or some type of sociopath.
Also, impossible to buy cute shoes if you have large feet. I'm not even talking about women's shoes either, though that could be useful, just want a pair of predominately pink shoes for some outfits and its hard to find them in larger sizes it seems
