  • That game had some great gameplay elements. Most notably the caravan takedowns.

    Unfortunate that the array of side missions was repetitive and overall story lacking.

    • Yeah, these parts were great but do not require an open world. Contrary to the developer's comments, having agency or autonomy in a game is not at odds with being linear. More often than not, making a game open world just leads to those problems you pointed out.

  • Never understood what people see in that game, it was like any basic ubisoft open world game - grindy, repetitive and filled with question marks to explore and "clear". The ground combat was exceptionally bad IIRC, I gave it up after 6 hours.

    Now if you got Bend Studio to work on a sequel... I'd be interested in that

    • For me, the sense of place and visuals were top notch. It was extremely immersive. While that carries it far, the car was also very fun. Customizable with parts and new body styles you could find around the wastes, you put work into the car and made it your own.

      The car combat is also very fun and is a kind of gameplay I still love but doesn't get much attention nowadays, so I really enjoyed that aspect as well as the junk storms and collecting the other stealable cars. Past that, yep, it was in the format of a traditional Ubisoft open world game, but, sue me if you want, I like those kinds of games.
