What a beautiful little corner of the internet this space is. Thank you for all of the love and support lately, I really appreciate it and will absolutely keep passing it on and lifting you wonderful people up where I can!
Does anyone know how long you're allowed to stretch out your turning 40 mid life crisis? I'm down to less than 23 hours until that awful meaningless day but still kinda wanna push it out a little longer.
Birthday being next week, it's a real rough time to be honest. I can't help but think about how I don't have any family to spend time with. I know I'm not the only one in this position, but still feels bad.
When I was unemployed, I lost a couple of really close friends who I usually hang out with, but I'm grateful for the people in my life that I do have.
It sounds funny, but I've kinda felt like a stray human since I was young.
Things could always be worse, and I try to keep that in mind. I just have moments of weakness where I wish for things that seem so out of grasp.
in non pooh news, got a wild hair up my arse yesterday and ripped up half the backyard paving. His Lordship toppled the rest this arvo (I left it for him to go SMASHY SMASHY with the sledge, he so rarely gets to)
IN MY DEFENSE it’s a pathway we’re gonna replace anyway because 1) it’s too narrow for my garden trolleys and 2) the bloody thing’s subsided to the point where it’s at a 40 degree angle and 3) I need the new level for the end point between the food garden ground level and the path for aforementioned trolleys. And I didn't mean to. I set the goal of moving my fruit trees to the other side of the greenhouse, and edging down it so we could plot.
But then I looked at those nice clean edges and thought “I could get a pry under there, I wonder how easy it would be?”
Surprisingly easy as it turned out. Especially with a 2 meter lever. But then I had a meter and a half of 15cm thick concrete with bluestone chips embedded through it at a 90 angle. No point in letting it back down after all that, and I couldn’t leave it propped up. what if it fell down on wildlife? To the sledgehammer! So then I had pieces that will become the crazy paving on the new path.
Then I started wondering if the next piece would come up that easily and, well, curiosity, cats and now we're missing 8m of pathway. Birds are going apeshit on the rolly pollies.
Success!!! Got the big unwieldly couch dismantled with my friend's help both physically and mentally. Now I can hopefully get rid of it sooner and if there's no takers at least it's a helluva lot easier to move myself. That's a big ticket item cleared.
Next up, gotta keep culling and packing clothes... made a bit of a start this am, but I'll probably do most of it tomorrow. It's been a big day today with long chats, grabbing a coffee, going to Bunnings together, dismantling this couch in confused stages, going out for lunch, dropping friend home...
Just back from a lovely walk with my kid. We got to pat 2 very friendly cats, one of which climbed into his lap when he sat down to get closer to it. The other one was called Bruce.
It’s reignited the ‘should we get another pet’ conversation, but can’t decide cat vs dog
I dropped my Darth Vader keepcup and completely shattered the glass. I'm thinking if I find the same size glass keepcup I could put it all back together.
But I'm going to keep an eye on marketplace because damn those things are expensive new
Camping gear has now been mostly sorted - there are a couple of tubs of stuff like cooking gear that will need to be sorted out to either donate or throw out, but all the bigger bits I intend to sell have been photographed. Now I need to do the listings and cross my fingers.
Cupboards are all moved. I am now exhausted, but still need to put away a few things and sweep the decking the cupboards were moved off (and have some stern words to the encroaching blackberries there). And just for fun the people who have made offers have not got back to me to acually confirm a pickup time ☹️.
Where the cupboards are now has more space so I should be able to take better photos to relist. I might try Gumtree this time.
Events dominate the net and its farken crazy how many people are blaming harris for trump winning.
The fuck is wrong with that country. Chunks of them chose not to vote, or to purity politic, half of them were stupid enough to vote for the persimmon emperor, how the fuck is it 'the dems fault'.
Decided to have a movie day with the Minipeelers. They wanted to go out and do something, but I didn't because $$. I'm kind of sick of all the free stuff we do, to be honest. It's free money wise but always takes planning, preparation. I've worked a hard week and selfishly just want to relax. So far we watched MIB 2 and Bullet Train. The latter was totally up our alley, we all loved it.
Today is cupboard moving day. I have a bunch of outdoor cupboards in the back yard I need to move to the front so I can sell them. It is a pain in the butt not having good access between the front and back yards. Plus I am going to have to move my car out onto the street until I can get rid of them because there is no space for them. Fingers crossed it won't take too long.
Edit: Cupboard moving is not going as badly as I feared. Two have been moved, six more to go. I think I'll take advantage of the car being out of the carport to pull out the camping gear to list too.
Tonight was good. Attempted to sing with a busker. Watched more buskers. Friend sold something on marketplace in the middle of our hangout. Got ice cream. It was a white chocolate peanut flavour but it didn't taste like white chocolate!
Most people are average. After watching Shadow of a Doubt for the umpteenth time I see that Charlie, who is constantly watching the world around her and looking at people and tries to make sense of it is the exception. Her mom, who is a sweet mom and not stupid, just average, sees the same facts but can't add it all up.
And I see now that Germans in the 30s really did believe the Blood Libel and other lies. They really did believe the lies that Jews were committing genocide, tho they didn't use the word genocide as that word hadn't been coined yet. It took decades of small lies that people were just not smart enough to discredit, see above. I used to think they didn't believe but because they were prejudiced they went along with it. They really believed because they thought they had facts and they thought it was the right thing to do. They believed the people in authority.
And no, teaching how to analyse won't work. They just can't do it.
