With work for the year. Out of office on, notifications off. Yeeeahhh. Now to clean up and get packed for a wee getaway.
I am thinking of deleting all social apps for a few weeks. I suspect I will keep jerboa but going to try to have less screen time for a bit. If I don't catch has then have a good one ๐ป๐ป๐ป
Looks like I'm going to get this job. I put in for the sorts of roles I want and never get anywhere, then recruiters contact me for roles like this and I just smash the interviews.
This one just might work out. Maybe it will be the good job in the area I've been trying to get away from
Doing some late night work as I caught up with a friend this morning which railroaded my day. Ughh people coming out of the woodwork with new jobs for me to do the week before Christmas. All of which can wait until the new year. I said to myself this week I will only be finishing up projects on the go, and I intend to stick to that.
I am not going to make such a trip to see the husband's cousins again. I invited them to the gallery and the cafe there, my treat. It's a small place in lovely environs.
The train was cool , fast and efficient.
I meet up and they said there is no parking anyway so let's go to el cheapo shopping mall instead. Even with a denim jacket on I felt over dressed and out of place.
I gave the lovely b'day gift , which was the reason behind the visit. She loved it all.
We had sandwiches at the mall , they paid for themselves, they complained about the price even tho it was super cheap.
After some shopping they took me back to the train station. ๐ซฅ
I walked to gallery and gardens, which were beautiful.
So freaking grateful I have a day off tomorrow. I'm cooked, I don't think I'll do much at uni, but I will catch up on organising token gifts and life admin nonsense. Working out what to take for Xmas lunch next Wednesday that I can carry on the train to the 'Rat (I've decided I'm not driving - save energy and petrol $). It'll be a mostly Sri Lankan style thing, I could do a simple curry or two but I'm conscious of not having the whole v/line carriage smell of it.
While I was packing some clothes into my suitcase in a hurry it fell off the bench and fucking walloped my leg. I don't even remember which part of it hit me. It was an instant "oh fuck" when it was falling but I could move in time
Now I have an about 8cm long red, swollen, very painful bruise on my shin. This happened about 4 hours ago, and I did try to brush it off, but it hurt walking through the shops to go get my roast chicken and I got many stares (I wear shorts). I also don't have a first aid kit or ice pack yet, so uhh, go me I guess. Oh, and I'm a tummy sleeper so it's hurts to lie down ๐
Buying an eGift Card for Christmas: Nath: 'Hey Woolies, I wish to purchase a gift card on your site, but want to delay the gift until Christmas morning. Can this be done?' Woolies: 'Of course not. If you buy a gift card at 2am, we send a text message to your recipient at 2am. They clearly want this gift right now!'
I'm not going crazy, right? It's a super obvious thing when buying a gift card that the person buying the gift would want to specify a delivery date/time as well as a recipient yeah? I told my work colleague and he reckons I'm an edge case. Most customers would want the gift sent immediately. Even if I wanted it same-day, I'd want the option to send it during waking hours.
Im so desperate for Friday to get here and to finally have some days off!! Have been doing 60-65 hour weeks at work for over a month now and on the weekends ive been up ladders installing picture rails and setting up all sorts of stuff for the photography business we are starting for my partner. So to say im exhausted would not even scratch the surface haha and i really need to get back to my hobbies and proper routine before my mental health suffers immensely!!
Finally signed up for flybuys. If Iโm spending the money on groceries anyway I might as well get a free kitchen knife or Bunnings gift card for itโฆ Still feels kind of wrong. Even though I already have a Woolies rewards card and probably gave up all privacy long ago.
At least Iโm probably confusing their algorithm by buying baby food and bibs for the cat.
spoiler
(The pumpkin baby food helps her tummy and encourages her to eat. The bibs are to keep spilled medicine out of her fur.)
Chillos growing quickly which is good. Hoping for dem mini-jungle vibes soon. Not sure why the top right ones (thai) are happier than the rest, hope they're not crosses. Habs at the front seem uniform-ish.
Just finished watching Day of the Jackal (the tv series). Great show, suspenseful to the end. You know the writers have done a good job when you find yourself cheering for a ruthless killer.
Looks like the Roomba festival just started or something. There's rides and stuff set up near the river diagonally across from flinders st station, near the row boat place
Last week while going through customs my backpack got flagged. Off it goes behind the perspex. Gets to the end. Officer looks at the X-ray. Gives the ok.
This morning, same thing happens. Off goes my very full but underweight bag. Not so nervous this time. I met back up with it at the end but this time he decides to rifle through my bag to find the alleged culprit. I am now curious. My ziplock bag with moisturisers and sunscreens. At first he tries to read them, then he opens the bag up and dives in. Comments such as: "Sometimes these are 125ml, oooo nice moisturiser and lovely".
Curious what people think of this who have no experience with this type of music. English trap kinda vibe? https://youtu.be/gYPX5juKBvg this is an absolute banger imo
OK new scopes booked in on Monday. I am a glutton for punishment and ended up asking for a slightly more thorough cleaning procedure because I was a bit dubious about the results the first time, effectively doubling the amount of slop I have to drink. Merry Christmas to me!
I downloaded Thunderbird and set my emails up on it. For some reason it makes me feel 10,000 years old using an email client. But it's great for gmail on your phone as it gets rid of the ads
Nearly slapped a pixel out of a womans hand on the train today. I often drive out catch the vline in cause its a shit tone more comfortable, and its easy to nap (as a ton of people do). Got woken up by a lady talking/half shouting down the phone about some project plan, but she ends the call with "sorry, your breaking up! I'll see you in 15 minutes anyway". Mother fucker are you serious?! have SOME consideration. even if people around you werent asleep! your gonna see them in 15 minutes anyway.
The self confidence after a haircut is like a drug. Only lasts like two days though. Hmmmm that gives me an idea. Three haircuts a week? Chase that dragon?
The removalists have arrived. That concludes the grind for me. There's still little stuff to pack, but the big rush was making sure everything was clear for them to move
I've gotta pack up all my food, but I'm waiting til they're almost done to do the frozen stuff
E: I washed down to the local cafe and did the first time ever, the barista remembered my name! Bit of a shame I'm moving away now. The new area doesn't have a cafe or coffee shop within walking distance (unlike here where the local is a 2 min walk), but the plus side is I'll be near about a dozen restaurants, a supermarket, and a pharmacy, all within walking distance! My current nearest supermarket is an IGA about a 15 minute uphill walk
"Yeah I felt horrible at 3am and have been sick for days, but I feel well enough to come in for the Christmas lunch" are you fucking kidding me?! Jesus people STAY HOME!
My boss just told me that the xmas do is this afternoon - but I also have a pre-existing dentist appointment for late this afternoon and there's no possibility of re-scheduling it to a pre-xmas slot. Will have to wait until the new year at least.
So, dentist or xmas party? - so far the dentist is winning.
My TV turned on at about 4:30am this morning โ woke up to the bright glow out in the lounge. I could tell it was just cycling through google stock backgrounds, but still didnโt want to go out and turn it off (stupid brain thinking awful things) and didnโt want to wake up boyfy since he was sleeping so peaceful after a rough few nights. Thankfully it turned itself back off after 10 minutes.
Iโve read stories about how Alexia will randomly start singing or playing sounds when people are home alone and I really hope that my TV story is the spookiest I ever experience from smart tech!
Itโs been a rough one. Melbcat was sick last night then had a urine accident in the bed, and is still sooky. All of this tells me getting the second course of antibiotics was the right thing to do. She still has the uti.
Itโs the same broad spectrum antibiotic as before which isnโt ideal. But due to not being able to get her seen in person at the start and then her still being on them when there was a chance for a urine draw - this is what weโve got and it is what it is. At least itโs a liquid this time which is easier to give.
But if it were pills I could count down to know just when she would finish and book a vet appointment for re-testing.
This sucks. Sheโs otherwise very healthy and happy aside from the arthritis which is being managed. Itโs just these damn constant utis. And she canโt have any of the special prescription foods. Metacam would help pain and inflammation but is recommended against due to her kidneys.
Today's gonna be a shitshow, I can feel it. Oh well, at least I've got an extra set of hands and a removalist. I was hoping it wouldn't come to indiscriminately throwing things in rubbish bags (that's a site spot for me, as that's what child protection usually give you when they've given you 15 minutes notice you're moving to the other side of the state). But it wasn't even procrastination, I just couldn't properly start. I think I need the time crunch, being forced to throw ideals and organisation out the window, and somebody to help and hold me accountable in person for it to work
Gonna be rocking 3 hours of sleep again. I'll get up at 6 and at least try to pack a bit myself, or at the very least do some tidying up and pack the non essentials (which I seem to find easier for some reason). Also need to finish constructing my dining table and make it out to the shops (tomorrow is absolutely not a cooking night, but also not an order in night, so I'm thinking roast chook rolls)
@Baku@aussie.zone, are you using the api to post these or are you doing them manually? Your timing has been perfect (12:00:00) the past few days and if you're manually doing it you're doing a great job!
