Transphobes in the comments saying "this would confuse the children" like there are no trans children who are already confused and would be much less confused if the world acknowledged their experience.
Children are literally confused about everything all the time. Not explaining things to them is not going to make them less confused.
It's the same faux victimhood excuse they always give for opposing the normalization of any marginalized group.
we recognize that many parents would prefer to discuss certain subjects with their children on their own terms and timeline.
That'd be great, if they actually had those conversations and explained things. Mine certainly didn't.
OK, I'm gonna piggy back off of this and put a question out there for y'all.
My (cishet) parents have always been really libbed up. And their approach to anything about queerness when I was growing up was to... Literally never mention it, or acknowledge it as a possible way of being, because "We didn't want to force anything on you! We just let you be who you were gonna be :)"
And are still baffled that their hands-off, silent, approach led me to struggle with my queerness so heavily as a teenager.
To my fellow queer Hexbears, did anyone else's lib parents do this? Is this a lib thing? A generational thing? A cishet thing?
My parents are conservatives. My mom took us to LGBT family events growing up, made sure never to assume we were straight, etc. Seemed like what should be the neutral position. But my parents are lesbians.
There was never any information about being trans. But like of course she didn't teach us anything about such - she doesn't really seem to believe in gender that much and is a bit transphobic.
That post US election narrative, where all these shitty mainstream media talking heads threw trans people under the bus by claiming the Democrats lost because they were "too progressive" and pandered to "woke LGBT," is really letting all these companies go fully mask off and openly embrace it. Got the same thing last month with HBO/WB going "TERF islander has the right to express her personal views" when just a year ago with that Hogswart's Legacy game, the same company was still promising that Rowling had no involvement.
I mean, fuck me, I shouldn't have expected anything else really and it's ultimately unsurprising how artificial all this corporate America LGBT "solidarity" is turning out to be, but, genuinely, it's so unnerving how synchronized these collective mask off moments always end up being. Same exact hivemind media-in-lockstep shit they do in foreign policy like with disavowing Palestinians after Oct 7 and now supporting Syrian Al-Qaeda. Turns out, all they were waiting for is for something to "normalize it" and that's exactly what this whole "we lost the popular vote because we weren't parading around that war criminal spawn Liz Cheney enough" spin from the DNC ratfuckers has done.

Pixar is a garbage company. They are known for being sexist af, and theres also John Lasseter who was harassing basically everyone there, even executives.
Hiding behind the notion of leaving sexual education to the parents is the same old narrative that my country used to erase LGBTQ+ representation from media and ban sex ed from schools. Good job, Disney, you have the same morals as a right-wing dictator. Which is not surprising given the history of the brand.

To be honest, I'm not surprised and not disappointed, I just hope that more and more people realize that these companies are not our allies and never were. Under the veneer of being progressive their sole purpose is to make money for investors and they would throw anyone under the bus to make that happen. Today it's trans people, tomorrow some other marginalized group. Business as usual.
