Total strangers on hexbear have shown me more solidarity and given me more material help than my entire family, family "friend", friend, and the Biden Administration.
Isn't that wild? And we're "evil" according to the rest of the internet. Love y'all.
I have some very wealthy distant biological relatives, and they're pleased to invite me over to their estates, fancy functions and pompous expensive restaurant and wine tasting outings, but apart from the culinary dabbing and "advice" and life changing epiphany stories of triumph over mild failson adversity, they will never give actual money. Ever.
I think mine hate me too, but in a rich asshole passive-aggressive way where they want me as a compare-contrast presence so they can feel richer and better about themselves.
Also yeah, one of my parent's friends is really rich (like owns an actual factory rich) and she always does that smug thing where they're like "oh I worked so hard to get where I am, you shouldn't be so lazy." Motherfucker, you only own that factory because your friend who owned it wanted to retire so they sold you and your husband the shares to the company
I like the solidarity but I am always left feeling the distance between myself and online posters. Creates a sort of negative feedback loop that makes me stop posting again
Edit: the threads where people help out people with financial troubles are sweet though, my guess is that if hexbear gets bigger those will have less success, so it's precious seeing them right now
