  • So the play here is to just give R enough rope to hang themselves with? Let them take a sledgehammer to the rule of law and then run again on the platform of "at least we're not the ones who took a sledgehammer to the rule of law"? Do they genuinely think that that will work with a voter base with no object permanence? I didn't know this was possible, but shit is getting sadder by the second.

    • It didn't work before. Everyone who voted for Trump seemed to forget his first term and the damage done, including harm to those voters themselves. "This time will be different" is the stupidest take ever.

  • I can't believe anyone still thinks Schumer is making a real political calculus based on harm reduction. He's literally never reduced harm to anyone but party elites. Get the fuck out of the way old bitch and utilize the power of the courts before there's only the executive. I legit feel like his reflex to play the victim while doing nothing is going to continue to his own death without a hint of regret.

Schumer is setting up a rake for Republicans to walk into, so I don't know why the title is so miseading, but taking the exact same playbook where you have to play chicken with narcissists who have already outlived the purpose in the fascist party if they're not willing to crash isn't going to go well for Dems. They need to take real actions and get a leader who can shout louder than half measured dickheads with no imagination.

  • Capitulation. There is clearly no winnable outcome within the system, because the system has been sufficiently broken. Once the military is purged ...

  • Looks like they may have changed the headline out from under you. Please make it match up or we'll have to remove it.

    Current headline:

"Schumer warns GOP against a 'Trump shutdown'

The Senate minority leader also detailed ways he plans to counter the new administration."

  • Who keeps voting for this clown of a senator? We need actual opposition instead of his bullshit posturing and finger wagging. Between him and other turncoats in the Senate, our chances of resisting the rise of fascism is pretty much dead in the water.

  • Capitulating and refusing to fight doesn't sound like lesser evil to me, but it does sound a whole lot like more incremental fascism.
