Schumer signals Democrats won’t pick a shutdown fight

letting republicants bury themselves is risky and probably won't work. the memory and attention span of the average voter just isn't there to allow the play to work.
you cannot let lord diaper continue to set the narrative. as he does, repeatedly, on multiple platforms and networks, every hour of every day with those nice, easy to digest three syllable soundbites that are just perfectly-sized for the cult members to absorb.
you have to get out in front and be the narrator, the play-by-play, and the color commentator. and write the story you want heard of how trump and his comrades fucked you, the public, over. every single time he does it. he's been the LOUD VOICE for a fucking decade now.

So the play here is to just give R enough rope to hang themselves with? Let them take a sledgehammer to the rule of law and then run again on the platform of "at least we're not the ones who took a sledgehammer to the rule of law"? Do they genuinely think that that will work with a voter base with no object permanence? I didn't know this was possible, but shit is getting sadder by the second.

I can't believe anyone still thinks Schumer is making a real political calculus based on harm reduction. He's literally never reduced harm to anyone but party elites. Schumer is setting up a rake for Republicans to walk into, so I don't know why the title is so miseading, but taking the exact same playbook where you have to play chicken with narcissists who have already outlived the purpose in the fascist party if they're not willing to crash isn't going to go well for Dems. They need to take real actions and get a leader who can shout louder than half measured dickheads with no imagination.

- I mean, one of the major things that needs to be stopped is Trump's federal funding freeze. Republicans want federal employees gone, and a government shut down does exactly that.

Can the budget include special provisions like, "Only an act of Congress can put a hold on or divert funds that are allocated by this budget"? Penalties need to apply to regular employees as well.

- The only recourse Congress has over a rogue president is impeachment. And we've seen before that Republicans won't convict him even after he literally tried to get them all killed (and even then, the removal process relies on the justice department enforcing it, I presume?).
  The courts won't be a check either, because the Supreme Court has been happy to turn the constitution on its head for him, and even if they did, the executive branch is the one that has the means to enforce rulings.

Who keeps voting for this clown of a senator? We need actual opposition instead of his bullshit posturing and finger wagging. Between him and other turncoats in the Senate, our chances of resisting the rise of fascism is pretty much dead in the water.

I can't wait to see what their investigation finds in 3 years! Hopefully they'll finally lay out a rock solid 7 year strategy to bring charges against Trump. That'll show 'em!
