Conservatives lack humanity. They lack the capacity for empathy or kindness for kindess' sake. For a conservative, everything is a transaction. If they show kindness or pretend to be empathetic, they feel they have done you a favor and you should be grateful for their kindness.
If a person shows kindness to a conservative, the conservative considers the kindness to be a weakness to exploit. If the person is not someone they wish to exploit, then they identify the kindess as a favor being done for them. A conservative cannot fathom kindness existing just for kindness' sake.
When you interact with a conservative, understand that they do not see your life as valuable. They do not empathize with you as they are simply not capable of that. They see you only as a transaction.
Use caution when dealing with conservatives. They do not value humanity or living things the way a normal person does.

"Oh, you need this social program to survive and we are cutting it for budgetary reasons? Well, why aren't you investing your money better? Recently, though, they have gotten actively antagonistic to various people merely existing. "We need to shoot and kill these immigrants as they cross the border. I consider myself progressive thinking, but think about some things you said... freedom of religion of all people is fine to be admired that you allow people to make choices for themselves. I think this is similar to freedom of speech. However, just as you would probably tell someone that spewing hateful racist remarks is a negative behavior and that we are equal, you sort of have to do the same with religion too. I mean, I do think it is right to allow free speech and freedom of religion, but that doesn't mean you have to give a bigot a microphone or a church tax exemptions. Yes you can build bridges, and advocate for kindness, but if you're too scared to say as a progressive that most organized religion is not a healthy choice, then you may as well kiss your very own existence bye. You don't survive in the wild by treating a tiger like a cuddly cat. Also, progressives at least in my mind do not riot. The people at the BLM protests and Floyd protests vandalizing things were not progressives. Progressives are mostly peaceful and it is the forward-thinking educational mindset that will allow you to change the world, not disrupting through chaos.

So, like, I was in a thread about toxic masculinity on lemmy.ca the other day, and I just gotta know: how are we being unfair to Senator Mullin? I'm told we're supposed to not judge the dude, not insult him, and give him a fair shot to bring his best self, but he keeps saying horribly idiotic things and threatening violence during public federal government proceedings. Omg, those commenters were right, we as a society have somehow failed this man!
