Everyone seems to agree that half of his movies is completely terrible and the other half is awesome. But nobody can ever agree on which movies belong to which half.
I think everyone can agree that The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent belonged in the awesome half. Him and Pedro Pascal had such amazing on screen chemistry.
I think the Wickerman remake is just actually a good movie. Yes, its so over the top at times that you are laughing at how absurd some scenes are, but its also still horrifying. Its an actual enjoyable experience that is not as formulaic as many other 'horror movies that are so bad theyre funny'.
Same with Face Off, but its so absurd its funny and also still a good action movie.
Mandy? I honestly think its also a great movie.
I have not seen /everything/ Cage has been in... but everything I have seen that stars him basically either is a good movie, or is a stupid movie that is made hilarious by Cage's acting.
Everything (that I've seen) that doesnt star Cage but just features him as a more minor character? His bit or bits are incredible.
My two most recent faves of his were "Mandy" and that five nights at Freddy's ripoff, "Willy's Wonderland". I unironically enjoyed his performance in both, though Mandy is fantastic on its own.
I hope this is the right spot to post Cage clips. Here he is channelling the soul of large corporations. You can tell this is from several years ago because he doesn't end with a line like, "We here at the Nestle family thank you for your diligence".
Casting Agent: .... there is a XXXXXX rating for this upcoming film with a Bollywood director, a $200 million budget from Russian oligarchs, being filmed in Turkey with a story set in space and there seems to only be an all male crew of five people .... it stipulates there should be a minimum of three motorcycle chase scenes, a space battle, one scene where there is hand to hand combat with Vladamir Putin and Putin wins, another fight scene with Joe Biden but Biden is actually a ninja robot, 3/4 of budget is dedicated to a grand finale where they blow up the moon and the hero has to be blind but telepathic
They are planning on filming four sequels concurrently, along with two prequels, a four season Netflix series and a Japanese production house will also work on an Amazon productions anime spin-off show.
