Hey everyone - quick updated on the state of the instance. 1. Still planning on going offline indefinitely. Moving stuff happening soon. Since I hadn’t updated with any news yet, going to try to keep things online for around another week. 2. I’m reasonably confident I’ll be able to bring the instanc...

Possumpat.io is planning to shut down, where should this community go?
https://ani.social/ seems like a good fit, but feel free to suggest other instances
Should we lock this community and redirect to !privacy@lemmy.dbzer0.com?
!privacy@lemmy.dbzer0.com as announced in a previous post
The mod is okay with me opening this post: https://sopuli.xyz/comment/14240553

Hello everyone,
After a discussion on !fedigrow@lemm.ee ( https://feddit.org/post/6950586 ), a few people interested in privacy decided to reopen !privacy@lemmy.dbzer0.com as an alternative to !privacy@lemmy.ml .
It's also nice to have a privacy community on an instance that can be accessed via VPNs.

Actually Infuriating Community
There is now an Actually Infuriating community on Lemmy! Post things that are beyond just mildly infuriating. It's only mildly infuriating that someone didn't make this sooner!

Kind of ironic to not have an icon for this community, does someone want to step in as a mod to fix this?
PSA: for people interested in the scientific research regarding health rather than politics affecting US citizens, there is !medicine@mander.xyz
Hope that's allowed by the mods, seems like a good way to allow both communities to reach different audiences.
Could we replace the AI generated icon and banner?
I'm not sure if people care all that much, but whenever I visit this community I can't help but notice the fairly ugly icon and banner which is clearly AI generated.
Would it be worth updating these? Heck I can make something for the community if needed

Should we close !askandroid@lemdro.id and allow support questions here?
Hello everyone,
!askandroid@lemdro.id was initially created to avoid getting !android@lemdro.id to get overwhelmed.
Last week, !askandroid@lemdro.id has 4 users, so it seems like activity pretty much halted.
Should we close it and redirect to !android@lemdro.id to consolidate activity?
New mods, slight rule change!
Hello casualuk'ers!
It seems like the sole mod of this community has been busy with life for some time and the admins have asked if anyone would like to volunteer to help out, so myself and @Flax_vert@feddit.uk have offered a hand.
We believe the core vibe of the community should be fun, relaxed, safe, and obviously, casual! Therefore we have made a minor ammendment to the rules, adding a "No Politics" rule. There's a lot of political communities across the fediverse and so we feel it would be great for people to have a space where the focus isn't politics, but just to have a bit of fun.
If you've got some great UK based political content or memes to share, then the following communities might be more suitable:
Thanks for reading!
Sharing is caring
Context
Reason why there are two communities:
there is no infuriating community so this community is now just regular infuriating bad news that piles to the top of !all
Community Rule 7. Content should match the theme of this community.
- Content should be Mildly infuriating.
- At this time we permit content that is infuriating until an infuriating community is made available.
if the subtext wasn’t obvious, this is my call for someone to consider making or promoting said community :3
Addressing the recent drama
TLDR?
There has been some drama here on midwest.social, and those troubled by it have made a sister community at !lotrmemes@lemmy.dbzer0.com. I'm looking for your input on how to move forward.
Where have you been?
This started unfolding at the end of 2024, unfortunately along with a pretty scary decline in my partner's health, which has resulted in Lemmy taking a backseat in my life. This is ongoing, and highlights the immediate issue of !lotrmemes@midwest.social being largely unmoderated, which I'll address below.
What exactly happened?
It feels irresponsible for me to give my own take on something that happened in my absence, but here's a timeline as I understand it:
- Luigi shoots a CEO.
- User A comments something to the effect of "someone please kill this other person" on a midwest.social community.
- User B reports the comment.
- Admin at midwest.social bans User B for being a "Libbety lib lib."
- Users start moving away from midwest.social.
- A new LOTR Memes c

What do you think about bringing up someone's modlog when they start making claims about other mods/communities/instances?
Hello everyone,
This is kind of a meta discussion, so if it doesn't fit the community, let me know and I'll crosspost it somewhere else.
There has been occurrences of people making broad statements against instances, communities, mods or admins. As Lemmy's recent versions (0.19.7 I think) allow to see someone's moderation history in a click (see below), I tend to use it from time to time, especially when the person is targeting admins or not that are known to be level-headed and consistent.
If the modlog shows that this person is indeed known to be toxic or arguing in bad faith, I would then post something like "heavy modlog" with a link to the user's modlog.
It seems like this behaviour could be considered harassment by some people. On the other hand, it allows people to identify directly if that person is arguing in bad faith, the same way very new accounts get regularly called out on their account
Squirtle rule - The migration is over, right?
Seems like everything is set
- new community
- new mods
- activity on the community
How do people feel about getting !196@lemmy.blahaj.zone ? Mods over there don't really seem cooperative, but it's not like it matters that much now?
Could someone register this community on lemmy-federate? That way it's visible to a lot more instances
Lemmy Federate is a tool to federate new communities in the Lemmyverse.
