It's a lose lose for Volkswagen the way they did this.
You aren't wrong, but also it directly impacts the company reputation. Doing it as absolute crap as they did hurts them. Not the whole industry, because looks what's happened since, the charging standards in USA went from CCS to nacs, all the manufacturers switched to using Tesla network which, checks notes is your direct competition.
Ooof I've got a vivedono troodon (voron clone) and that thing is constantly breaking. It's broken right now! I might just give the thing away if someone would come get it!

The second I restored a 1956 Dodge Truck which had a 270 V8. This combo wasn't common.

While most of the points are covered here, and it's likely true that the cost to add the panel and micro inverters is high, (I built a small two panel one battery off-grid system for about $4000 to power a chest freezer)... I have a counter point that I feel should be considered.
While it's true that it isn't going to extend driving range by much, my thought is that it is still worth it. Take these examples:
Drove to great wolf lodge in the summer, left car in parking lot for 3 days without charge. It lost several %.
Left car in an airport lot for a week lost even more power.
Drove to NorCal, left car at Airbnb driveway, had to find charging despite the car sitting in very bright sunshine for 4 days.
Car camping
Apartment complex parking (literally one of the main negatives about EVs)
All of these would benefit from trickle charging, even if it was just to prevent the drain of sitting.
I have noticed lately that several sites I've tried to login to, some I already have an account, some I am trying to make a new account give me what seems like endless captchas.
The two notables ones from my memory, Etsy, where I've had an account for years and have 2fa enabled ffs. The other Unity, where I'm trying to make an account to join a friends Organization.
After several minutes the captches just seem to keep going and I get more and more frustrated to the point I just give up and don't login (which is not really an option with my Etsy store).
My setup isn't anything crazy, Firefox, Fedora 40, no vpn's or anything. Always from either my laptop or gaming system.

I've just put Fedora40 on my Lenovo legion. I installed kde spin. I've got two strange issues.
The first, when adding file attachments in Firefox, it opens the gnome file manager instead of dolphin. Annoying but not major.
The second, when playing a steam game (fallout4) on multiple monitors, it seems the mouse isn't trapped to the game window, and when it inevitably makes it's way to the second monitor, a click will change focus. For this issue, I have been trying to use the kde window rules, but that doesn't seem to work. Nine of the rules seem to force the mouse to stay in that window.
I have a hobby 3d design business where I make things, and I have a lot of planters. When I make a new one the routine is, buy plant, plant it, take pictures, make notes about how well it works or looks.
Sometimes I end up with 3 or 4 iterations of it. I have too many, no WAY to many plants and I can't keep up with the care for them. I'm hoping there are members of this community that would be willing to test stuff for me, take photos and give me feedback. I'm debating trying to get my hands on a used m1 or M2 air for the primary use case of leaving it on my couch so I can quickly look stuff up. I thought about going with a chrome book, but all the snapdragon powered ones either have sketchy support or are expensive.
I also want it to have a small form factor so I think I want a MacBook air. I don't have any interest in macos (which I use for work) so I was debating putting Linux on it.

Weird story, so about 9 years ago we sold our house to a family member, who rented it out. Those renters reached out to them and said that we got a package. We still live in the area so I went and got it from them.

I recently (2021/2022) sold my gas cars and bought two EV's. Though I kept my two motorcycles. I'm not exactly an EV enthusiast, I've had a very long list of enthusiast cars/bikes and when I was young I used to race both autocross and quarter mile. So this basis is where my brain is at.

Hello all, I've been distro hopping a lot lately and have a long term goal of settling on one distro for the family laptops.
Currently it's a smattering of linux distro's and some M$ across all the systems in the house.
In short the fam has had a pretty negative reaction to Gnome for all the usual reasons, so there is a kubuntu instance, Nobara, but the KDE version, Manjaro etc... I kind of want to give Fedora a stint on my laptop and noticed the Fedora spins project and was wondering if anyone has played around with it at all?
I spun up the KDE version in a VM alongside the default Fedora and noticed it's running a newer kernel than the default, which is interesting...
Is it an equal partner in update cycles?

I'm currently running kubuntu 23.10 and have been distro hopping a lot lately. I'm going to continue to do so but the tedium of saving everything off is a royal pain.
Backup solutions across distro's don't always work, plus the overhead of backing up and restoring is almost more work than just copy/pasting most stuff.
In windows obviously, you're damn near forced to use one drive these days, and it made me wonder if there is a similar cloud service, or self hosted service that might accomplish a similar task.
I've got an unraid server I can use, and there are options there it appears, but the choices are almost overwhelming.
So I thought I'd just ask all of you, what solution mimics a cloud desktop like onedrive the closest?
EDIT: To be more specific, I'm mostly just referring to dekstop contents, Documents, Downloads etc, Not config data. Bonus points if I can add folders too.
EDIT2: Thank you everyone for your awesome suggestions! I went with syncthing. I also tried Mega which crashed pretty much instantly for some reason. Syncthing seems to be exactly what I need and I can just point it at my Unraid server.
