Employees are being offered the ‘party drug’ through company health schemes as psychedelic-assisted therapy grows in popularity. Just some good old capitalist innovation in action.
I get the urge to view this cynically because how can you not, but there's a growing body of research showing the benefit of psychedelics in treating a variety of mental disorders. AFAIK the big ones are psilocybin (magic mushrooms) and, as the article mentions, ketamine. So it's generally good that more people are getting access to that kind of therapy
As someone with schizophrenia, life was infinitely better when I was using psychedelics frequently. Somehow shrooms and MDMA were generally helpful for psychosis/mania issues
They say to be careful about that because the trauma of a bad trip can induce psychosis, but psychedelic use overall (when adjusted for other drug use) is associated with similar or better general mental health compared to non-users, so I'm not too surprised honestly.
IME you are likely to have one during hiring/onboarding, but they definitely aren't going to do any of the random test shit you see on TV. Over my 20 year work history I have only been tested during the hiring process, and this mainly includes office jobs.
