we all love our dunks but remember that the good work is done in your community, with your neighbors, with your homeless comrades and those who capitalism has thrown away
I'm ex-libertarian, so a lot of the times I dust off my old anti-SJW talking points and just reverse engineer them against CHUDs. It's fun using their own intentional logical fallacies against them
Tone policing them is hilarious because they love to take the bait and say something along the lines of 'U mad bro?' Whenever they do, I'll just say "you won't convince me of anything with that attitude."
Compare them to you: "You're just like the SJWs, you can't fight hate with hate! You're not being the person New Guy* knows you can be!"
Find any excuse to automatically claim victory, or any excuse to not listen to them.
For context, New Guy is a CHUD meme where they prop up this strawman from Mallorie and they use him to pretend like they have a heart, sometimes done to tone police the left.
It baffles me on how many people just miss out key details in Innuendo Studio's ARP series. Some examples:
-First video where he talks about how failed deradicalisation attempts can make the chud attack other people hence putting other minorities at risk. Most 'progressives' don't just try to convince but go out and vitrolically attack without thinking of who pays with their blood.
-You Go High We Go Low talks about not letting reactionaries and fascists police your resistance. Guess what they are saying about hamas?
-How To Radicalise A Normie mentions what he feels are necessary requirements for a decent deradicalising holding room (must be free of judgement, relatively private place etc.). People still go onto his curiouscat to insist that the clown is doing what he asks even when it is anything but.
-Cost of Doing Business talks about how minorities are not even seen as active players in today's politics. Vote-blue-no-matter-who-ers treat the anger of muslims/ Palestinians as just necessary collateral damage to protect democracy or whatever.
Me: states basic and easy to understand take on capitalism, so simple that even some right-wingers would agree with it
Chud: Explain your argument.
Me: No thanks. [Pretending the chud is asking me to explain in good faith, to "learn" rather than to do a "gotcha" and pick apart my explanation] Thankfully, there are many resources that talk about this elsewhere for you to educate yourself. I'm just one person, so go forth!
Chud: Ha, so you're telling me to do my own research because you have no arguments! Owned!
Me: No, it wasn't an argument to begin with.
They really want to play into their Ben Shapiro archetype LARP so bad, and they're already operating under the premise that you're wrong as soon as they detect you saying something even remotely leftist. No matter how detailed, thorough, and thought-out your explanation is, they will find some way to try to refute it, even if they'd be extremely wrong and have to grasp at straws in the process.
I disagree because if you leave dipshit views unchallenged they spread more readily than if they're met with a compelling rebuttal. Arguing online isn't about changing the mind of a hostile stranger, it's about influencing the dozens of randos witnessing the interaction. I spent a lot of time on /r/conspiracy arguing about socialism and it was never to convince the other guy and over that time I had dozens of PMs thanking me for exposing them to different views and if each of them goes on to educate in kind well that's literally the parable of the sower
Yeah I mean consider the visibility of the argument. If it's just you and some dipshit slapfighting in a place nobody will see, cut it out. But if it's some front page reddit thread with high engagement? Other people will see what you say and might be influenced.
I'll admit from time to time I'm particularly salty and will argue with people but it's a pretty rare occurance. 99% of the time I will just mute/block and move on.
