Might be metal. Most modern metal has a kind of kayfabe attached to it where the over the top nature of it is kind of… ironic? I dunno, feels like there’s something there.
I agree, it’s metal because of the kayfabe. And it gets even funnier when you think about all the metal purists who take it super seriously and try to gatekeep it
I enjoy the kayefabe part of metal so the gatekeepers always amuse the hell out of me. Like, some dude goes on stage dressed in studded leather and corpsepaint singing about Satan fucking Jesus with a crucifix and then he goes home and tucks his kids into bed and posts pictures of taking his dog on walkies.
I came here to say this but I actually find it kinda haha funny, especially knowing that electroswing was one of the whitest genres in existence when we were in that boom ten years ago.
Third wave ska music. It has to be, it sounds silly and fun, and I say this as someone that likes the genre.
Contemporary Afrikaana music is often funny in a "so bad it becomes funny" way. Like how does one listen to artists like snotkop and Jan Jan band, and think it's good music? It's obviously a joke. The problem is that this kind of irony is way overdone in Afrikaans musiek, so no one takes it seriously or listens. I refuse to listen to that kind of nonsense to be honest.
As much as I hate it, AI voices being set to songs. Some of them are pretty good. Anytime I throw in a Neco Arc AI voice cover, my co-worker laughs, especially if it's one he hasn't heard yet.
Neco Arc cover of the Bad Touch gets me every time.
Brazilian Phonk has to be my pick. The songs are pretty interesting, and a lot of the songs mixed more with other genres are good. However, the pure examples of the genre (or so I've been told) are composed of a rap verse with no beat, then it drops into overblown bass and shit post sounding lead synths, like a song that's already been deep fried. They're fun songs, definitely the hardest I've laughed at music I think is cool.
