fight alongside nazis to avoid dying
Unsurprisingly, you choose 2). Granted the brits probably would have helped if it were possible, but it wasnt.
what the fuck are you talking about, the soviets beat your ass twice and your nazi shit country is still fucking there. you keep saying the russians would have taken everything BUT THEY WON AND THEY DIDNT EVEN TAKE FINLAND.
just unbelievable amounts of imaginary worldbuilding, jesus christ.
Finland was also the one who invaded the USSR after allying with Nazi Germany. It had nothing to do with ”we're uwu smol beans who need the Nazis to protect us from the ebil Soviets”, Finnish fascists were openly dreaming of Greater Finland.
They can't imagine a war being fought for any reason other than to kill as many people on the opposing side as possible, because that's what they would do if they were fighting a war against a foe they had so thoroughly dehumanized.
also the very widespread cold war propaganda filling european heads that the soviets were just as bad as the nazis.
for example, the nazis murdered hundreds of thousands of hungarian civilians, while the soviets did not.
which is why the average hungarian will to this day insist that it was not liberation when the red army finally took budapest and chased the nazis out. even people who WOULD NOT EVEN BE ALIVE TODAY WITHOUT THE SOVIETS, cos their parents were in hiding while the nazis were actively hunting for them, and it's a fucking miracle they made it out of the war alive as it is.
This is the average liberal understanding of Ukraine's position in world war 2. I've heard my whole life that the Soviets were so evil that the nazis were welcomed. There's never a mention of which Ukrainians welcomed the nazis (or their class loyalties). The narrative is so unscrutinized that I've heard this from Ukrainian descended jews saying it to me (also a Ukrainian descended jew).
This reminds me of a Twitter interaction I saw a while ago. Some Ukraine flag guy was claiming that it was actually Ukraine which won WWII because the 1st Ukrainian Front was involved in the Battle of Berlin (not how front naming worked but yeah). Then someone brought up the rpes which happened in Berlin right afterwards and asked if that means Ukrainians were rpists. OP did a complete 180 and blamed all the crimes on "the Russians in the Soviet Army".
The same people arguing the Nazis were welcomed as liberators are the same people doing the mental olympics trying to justify how Bandera/OUN were not in fact actual Nazis and how that swastika on every Ukrainian army photo is actually just a norse rune or some shit.
It is probably meant as some kind of "we wuz vikangz n shiet" rubbish but in reality being "too Nordic" would probably just mean you was really socially awkward and liked pick and mix candy a lot.
Kill counts in general are sus in war but the Axis bloated out their kill counts habitually. There are a few well documented engagements where the SS would claim they destroyed hundreds of Allied tanks but you look at the Allied records for that day and they'll say something like "We lost 3 out of 50 tanks we have in the area."
I remember checking wikipedia for the tiger tank and they said back to back on the page, "They destroyed 300 soviet tanks and suffered zero losses in the first engagement (dead source linked)." followed by, "German tank-crews had self reported kill counts(actual source linked)."
anyway I remember them telling me that all of Häyhä's kills were confirmed because they went to his spot and found all the bullet casings. Even as a child I was like "I thought he had to move constantly because they would've gotten him otherwise?" sad fash propaganda
the wrong side won the civil war the wrong side won the civil war the wrong side won the civil war the wrong side won the civil war the wrong side won the civil war the wrong side won the civil war the wrong side won the civil war the wrong side won the civil war the wrong side won the civil war the wrong side won the civil war the wrong side won the civil war the wrong side won the civil war
