At a certain point they're gonna overplay their hand and people (not libs obviously but people capable of complex thought) are going to completely write off anybody putting out endless articles that boil down to "don't support genocide? Here's why you're worse than people who do!"
If the average person read “the more basketballs you shoot, the more you are an NBA player” I think many would read it as a causal relationship that operates at the individual level.
I mean strictly speaking it’s not incorrect, but I just know this author wants to scare people into voting as if it affects their political views.
When Marx said, ”the human essence is no abstraction inherent in each single individual. In its reality it is the ensemble of social relations,” I think it’s coming from a similar standpoint of incommensurability between aggregates and individuals. There may be an “average voter” as a statistical object, but it does not exist as a real individual.
I had always planned on voting, just not for Biden. I'll be voting PSL if they're on my ballot, and writing in some joke about my balls or asshole if they aren't.
I don't exactly get what's surprising about the "my optics are flinging poop" guy pulling more nonvoters than the bloodless donor class appeaser.
Also Dems should be fucking scared how strongly their success with PoC voters is tied to these people being regulars at the polls. The "has voted 0-2 times" set includes a ton of young people who haven't been of voting age for 12 years, and these are overrepresented among nonwhite demographics.
Lol if your base is voting more and you still fail to some bubba who shows up once in a blue moon to drop a ballot, you’re a complete and utter failure of a party and politician and you deserve to get your ass kicked for complaining to me about it
Well duh, most Republicans don't give a shit about local politics because they already hold most of those seats because they overwhelmingly outnumber Democrats outside of cities
This is like looking at the sea and going "The more time you spend in the water, the more likely you like to swim"
Well then... if not voting is a vote for Trump and voting for Trump is a vote for Trump... then he's 100% going to win and there's no reason to vote for Biden. 'Cause "not voting" is what the vast majority of the USA voting population does every year.
The fundamental problem here (besides assuming people are being honest about how many times they’ve voted in recent elections) is that the nature of the most recent elections skews the results. 2018 (Trump midterm), 2020 (get the dang Cheeto out plus COVID backlash) and 2022 (Dobbs backlash) were all big democrat turnout years whereas the MAGA crowd were only super activated by 2020 with Trump on the ballot, 2022 to a lesser extent with Let’s Go Brandon but not bringing out the Trump-only voters.
So if I don't vote I'm a Trump supporter but don't support him enough to vote for him, but also by not voting for Biden I am voting for Trump even though I'm not actually voting at all, so despite the fact that I'm apparently a Trump supporter, not voting apparently helps him and hurts Biden?
I didn't read the article but maybe the writer has discovered quantum mechanics politics.
Look, people on social media made fun. But in my article I demonstrated the reality and consequences of QMP. It exists. It's real. In the language of ordinary people "It's a thing."
okay, so as someone with a liberal MA in 4d critical voting theory, what this essentially means is that anyone who wants four more years of biden should stay home in november so that biden will have more support among non voters. that way, the power of not voting shifts so that not voting for trump becomes a vote for biden, and votes that are not cast in the physical space are not bound be the limitations of the ballot-box, meaning that you can vote for biden several times by not voting for trump
Sounds like Trump is more appealing than Biden to nonvoters. Fortunately DNC strategists have long confirmed that nonvoters are a small and insignificant portion of the electorate. To preserve democracy, maybe the Democrats should just start purging the voter roles to keep all those unreliable irregular voters from compromising the democratic process with their irresponsible votes.
So Trump is bringing out the disaffected people who usually abstain? That in itself should be a huge red flag about us politics as a whole, and really speaks to the whole fascism vs socialism issues were increasingly coming towards, as more and more people come to realize that the status quo is untenable (and are desperately latching onto whatever offramp there is, unfortunately we're not being given another choice besides proto-fascism)
this is why i vote 5 times every election and those votes are third party so both sides can claim those votes were actually for the other guy so its really like 15 votes
